Business Office
On a traditional telephone network, customers called the business office to order a new line, change a service, or ask about their account. The PhoneNet Business Office does the same work for our hosted line users and office code holders.
Like all PhoneNet departments, volunteers staff the Business Office and we do not have set hours.
What the Business Office Does
The Business Office is responsible for:
- New services. We review Hosted Line and Office Code requests, allocate numbers, and provision the service. When your service is ready, we send you the details that you need to connect.
- Changes to existing services. For example, extra lines, voicemail, and music on hold.
- Class of service. We review requests for more calling privileges. Include your use case with the request. Refer to Class of Service for more information.
- Numbers. We manage number allocation, quarantine, and reassignment. This includes inbound PSTN numbers for users who are eligible.
- Cancellations and migrations. We process service cancellations. If you move to a different PhoneNet service, we can set up a “Number Changed” announcement and call redirection for your old number.
- General enquiries about PhoneNet and our services.
What the Business Office Does Not Do
For other types of request, contact the correct department:
- For faults, connection problems, or help to configure your device or PBX, contact Tech Support.
- If you operate another network and want to discuss an interconnect, contact the Network Operations Centre.
- For help to reach another PhoneNet user, call the Switchboard.

All PhoneNet lines can call the Business Office, including lines with a restricted class of service. If you call from the PSTN or another community network, refer to our inbound numbers.
For new services and changes to a service, use the Service Desk. The request forms collect the information that we need to provision your service.
Note
We only accept cancellation requests through the Service Cancellation Request form in the Service Desk. We do not accept cancellations by telephone, email, or Discord. Refer to the Service Cancellation Policy for more information.
