Emergency Calls

Warning
Unless you have been explicitly advised that emergency calling has been enabled on your service, you will be unable to place emergency calls via PhoneNet. Attempts to place emergency calls from a service that has not been provisioned for emergency calling will result in a notification to operators on duty who may conduct a wellness check.

As PhoneNet is a private community network we do not support calls to emergency services. In the unfortunate event you do need to place an emergency call you must use an alternate service such as a mobile phone or standard carrier.

There are however some exceptions to this rule:

Australian Users

For our Australian users with two-way PSTN service we do however have the ability to enroll your line in the IPND (integrated public number database) and enable access to 000 from your PhoneNet services. This involves providing providing proof of identity and your address to us so we can transmit your location to emergency services if you make an emergency call.

If you have requested to be enrolled we will advise you when this is completed. Do not assume that you can call emergency services until we have explicitly told you so.

North American Users

We have the ability to enroll North American users with two-way PSTN service in the E911 database to route your call to your closest PSAP and provide your location information to the dispatcher when you call 911.

This incurs a cost that we are not willing to cover and you will need to provide a contribution to have this enabled on your service.

If you have requested to be enrolled we will advise you when this is completed. Do not assume that you can call emergency services until we have explicitly told you so.
